Welcome to the Levelup Academy Certification program! Established in 2022 as LYPA, our first Yin Yoga Certification took place in April 2023. Since then, we've held certification programs annually, cultivating new and passionate instructors. You might even spot some of their names on our schedule.

As we expand the range of our programs, we have also customized each one to seamlessly fit into the participants' lives. Many of our students are from our community, with some having begun their journey in our studio as practitioners. They have witnessed or personally experienced life-changing moments, motivating them to share their knowledge as teachers. Whether their foundation is in Yoga, Inferno Pilates, or Yin, they have inspired us to develop our programs for real people.

Our Teaching Philosophy and Practice

Our teaching philosophy centers on the genuine belief in incorporating movements into daily life. We choose our instructors for their integrity and humble conviction that everyone is welcome in class, regardless of appearance or athletic ability.

At the studio, we offer a combination of yang style yoga and yin style, along with mat pilates and the original inferno hot pilates, one of the first HIIT classes that gained popularity in 2017. Our instructors are skilled in leading multi-level group classes, utilizing special techniques and tailored sequences. We also focus on the expertise needed to teach in a heated environment, managing room settings, and effectively using props to enhance the efficiency and benefits for students.

We think that every instructor should undergo specialized training tailored to each class module they intend to teach. In our certification programs, you will acquire a foundational understanding of the human body, functional anatomy, physical adjustments, and course physiology aspects. Cheemun, one of our main instructor, educator and founder of Levelup Hot Yoga, emphasizes a deep understanding of body anatomy and guides instructors to recognize what is truly attainable. We view teaching as a way to enhance our practice journey and share our passion with others. Our educators are committed to maintaining the highest educational standards, ensuring quality, professionalism, and integrity.

Understanding our certification programs

Our certification programs are suitable for individuals who wish to teach or those seeking a deeper understanding of the subject. These programs are highly beneficial for anyone interested in uncovering the secrets of exceptional instructors. We recommend our programs to those who have participated in our classes, as all our courses are grounded in the teachings from our studio. Each studio has its unique approach, and we strive to maintain simplicity and authenticity.

Our course program is clearly defined, including its content, textbook materials, principles, and foundation. The curriculum becomes available as soon as training dates are chosen. All trainees must fulfill a set of requirements to receive an official certificate of completion from Levelup Hot Yoga. This involves completing specific practice hours along with theory and practical assignments. The certificate can be used for job applications at various studios in Canada and when applying for teaching insurance.

We are not associated with Yoga Alliance, an international yoga certification relevant for those aiming to teach globally and in the US. In Ontario, and other part of Canada, these certifications are not mandatory and do not serve as hiring criteria. Most insurance providers in Canada do not mandate Yoga Alliance registration, but they do require evidence of accredited training hours. Please consult with the studio you wish to teach at in the future to be informed about any additional licensing or certification requirements. Keep in mind that the requirements for certification and licensing to teach as a Yoga or Fitness instructor vary by city and country. Depending on your location, you might need additional licensing to teach.

We highly encourage instructors to continue learning and acquire knowledge that will be beneficial in their classes. As new concepts are introduced and trends evolve over time, some classes are best maintained in their traditional form, while others benefit from ongoing development.

What comes after earning certification?

Frequently, the objectives of obtaining certification are personal. It can result in a career shift or complement one's current job. The knowledge gained from a teacher certification program is extensive. It can unlock numerous opportunities, even unexpected ones. Whether you intend to teach part-time, full-time, or just want to enhance your own practice, there is a vast amount to explore. Love the work, and you can still teach this part-time while managing a real-life profession.

As with any other yoga or pilates teacher certification, we do not guarantee any hiring opportunities in our studio. Our opening for instructors slots depend greatly on the need of the studio. Should a candidate meet the requirements and fit the description in what we are looking for, there is always that opportunity that you will get hired right in the training! If selected to teach in our studio, you'll receive lifelong guidance on becoming a great instructor and structuring classes effectively and safely.
