After ten years of martial arts training that resulted in reconstructive knee surgery, I needed a practice that would help me return to sport. In 2005, I discovered hot yoga, and it quickly became a transformative part of my healing journey as it was the only practice that helped me fully regain what I had lost to my injury. More importantly, it taught me to trust my body again.
Exploring the human body through physical fitness has been a constant passion throughout my life as reflected in all of the sports and activities I have done, along with my academic pursuits which have included a Bachelor’s in Kinesiology, a Bachelor’s in Physiotherapy, and a Doctorate in Physiotherapy. In addition to the physical, I’m also a student of meditation, weaving some of the gems that I have learned into my classes. Not only is the connection of mind and body crucial to any yoga practice, integrating the mind with any other physical activity will take your performance to another level.
With my various certifications, I strive to create safe, inclusive spaces for all. Whether it’s leading a fun, high energy class or guiding an introspective, nurturing class, my hope is that my students leave feeling inspired and empowered. Can’t wait to see you on the mat!
