The importance of this bike ride
This event highlights a crucial cause: Alzheimer’s and other dementias. With over 300 researchers at Baycrest, the focus goes beyond treatment to include early detection and prevention efforts. Mattamy Homes Bike for Brain Health is vital in supporting initiatives that to reshape the understanding and treatment of dementia worldwide. Participating in this bike ride not only raises awareness but also promotes physical activity, which research shows can significantly reduce your risk of dementia by incorporating 150 minutes of exercise each week.
Since 2022, the Mattamy Homes Bike for Brain Health ride has provided an extraordinary experience for participants. Cyclists have the unique opportunity to ride on roads and highways usually closed to the public, including the wide, paved Gardiner Expressway and Don Valley Parkway (DVP), all without any traffic. The stunning lakeshore and breathtaking cityscapes offer views that are simply unmatched in Toronto. Join us for an unforgettable ride while supporting great cause!
Route options:
There’s a route for everyone at the Mattamy Homes Bike for Brain Health ride, catering to all cycling abilities. Choose from family-friendly 10 km, 25 km, 50 km, or 75 km options, allowing you to set your own pace—whether you prefer to go fast or take it slow.
The 10 km family route: Family plays a vital role in addressing dementia, as caregivers often come from within the home, regardless of generation. That's why Baycrest invites the entire family to participate in this event. The ride is designed for cyclists of all fitness levels, ensuring everyone is to join in and support this important cause together.

When and how this bike ride works
PLEASE NOTE that while this event will still take place at Exhibition Place, the starting location has changed. The start line will be located at the Princess Margaret Fountain outside of The Better Living Centre.
BIKE SCHEDULE
5:30 AM Registration opens
6:00 AM 25 km, 50 km, 75 km routes open
9:00 AM Access to routes closes
9:30 AM Family 10 km route opens
10:30 AM Access to Family 10 km route closes
2:00 PM Finish Line Party

Make sure to set off early to enjoy a stunning sunrise with the iconic city skyline as your backdrop! Throughout your ride, you'll be fully supported by friendly volunteers, and there will be mechanical and medical assistance available if needed. MAKE SURE you are wearing your participant wrist band to access all facilities, including the Longo’s Fuel Station, Bike Parking, Cycling Village and PedalPalooza.
