Why it's important to engage in a Yoga and fitness activity as we age
There is no magic pill to reverse the aging process. But if you want to counter the biological mechanisms that drive age-related conditions, like the accumulation of senescent cells, you will need to exercise.
At some point of our lives as we age past 30, we begin to loose our muscle mass and the effect will slowly impact the way we move and feel. It is important to include muscle-strengthening exercise, focus on things like hand-weights, resistance bands and bodyweight exercises such as push-ups, squats and lunges. Keep in mind that your weekly workouts should engage all of the major muscles in your body.
Showing up on your mat and training in a group setting is so much fun and classes can be done by men, women and virtually anyone who loves to sweat. You will burn calories, keep your heart and lungs healthy, increase your endurance, feel stronger and so much more. The benefits are fantastic and you will feel like a whole new person in no time!
